Viña Gormaz 2010
Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, 88 points.
Tempranillo’s bright and fruity side is on display ion this wine, tempered only by the vanillin, woodsy notes of American oak barrels. This is a gentler version of Ribera del Duero with nearly nouveau-like exuberance, but with additional interest from the oak elements, as well as depth from the dark fruits found in Tempranillo grown in the elevated vineyards of Ribera del Duero. Drink in the next few years.
Made exclusively of the impressive native grape, Tinta del País (Tempranillo), Viña Gormaz Joven is an assertive and elegant wine that is the absolute benchmark within its category, and one with an excellent price/quality ratio.
