Tasting Note
This is a riper version of Verdejo than most, with few of the herbal notes that can arise from the Verdejo grape (or that reflect a healthy dose of Viura or Sauvignon Blanc). Lemons, pears, and dried mangos compete in the nose, while the mouth is more citrusy. The wine is friendly and gentle with some soft mineral notes at the end. Drink soon or in the next few years.
Wine Description
The grapes for this wine come from 34 acres of Verdejo vines planted in 1998 with a yield of 1.6 tons per acre. After very careful vineyard selections, only the best vines of Verdejo grapes are hand-harvested.
About the Winery
Bodegas Volver is a joint venture between Jorge Ordoñez and Rafael Cañizares. The winery is located in the best terroir of La Mancha found in the eastern region of the DO. The sandy-soiled, chalky vineyards are located in a very arid climate with cold winters and hot summer days with cool nights. The Spanish enologist Rafael Cañizares seeks to achieve the maximum expression of the Verdejo grapes grown in the environment.
