Tasting Note

Warm and ripe, this is beginning to show some intense dried fruits hints, but the mouth and finish are still characterized by the trademark balanced crispness and stony finish of Calatayud. Drink now or hold for three to five years.

Wine Description

Our 2009 Las Rocas Calatayud Garnacha Viñas Viejas exhibits a deep ruby color with a spicy cranberry bouquet. This well-structured wine has dark cherry flavors and elegant hints of oak with round, supple tannins and a long, rich finish.

About the Winery

A collaboration among the young Spanish winemakers of Bodegas San Alejandro and French and American wine specialists, Las Rocas is a testament to passionate winemaking with a modern view. Our wines speak to the distinctive varietal character of Garnacha, including our Red Blend, which showcases this Spanish grape. We impart only a light oak influence to let the terroir of Calatayud's rocky sloping vineyards take center stage.
