Tasting Note
The wine's American oak notes of vanilla, coconut, and dill are very intense at this moment; the red fruits are bright and curranty, so the overall effect is of spicy red plums and cherries. The red currants, as well as a distinct toastiness, return in the finish. Drink soon or in the next few years.
Wine Description
La Planta has fresh aromas expressing fruity notes of casis and licorice, along with toasty notes from noble woods like cedar. On the palate, the wine is velvety in texture with bright fruit that is balanced by the finesse stemming from aging in oak. This is a mature and round semi-crianza wine.
About the Winery
Since its founding in 1993, Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro has been known for its high-quality wines (Crianzas, Reservas, and Grand Reservas), in DO Ribera del Duero. The La Planta estate is named after a 1,000-year-old mediterranean oak tree presiding on the property. La Planta is also the name of our youngest wine, which is made from grapes grown within a large 3,458-acre natural hunting reserve that is situated in Quintanilla de Onésimo. Within this reserve grow 370 acres of vines, mostly of Tinto Fino but complemented by a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The winery is equipped with the most modern technology, and its stainless steel tanks can hold up to 1 million liters of wine. During maturation in American and French oak barrels, our wines acquire their exquisite flavors and aromas. Combining tradition and technology, the Arzuaga Navarro family has been able to develop exceptionally tasty wines.
