A version midway between the Old School of long barrel aging and the International School of massive fruit, this wine has oodles of richness but never loses its grounding. The barrel notes are less about the clove of new oak, and more about the vanillin and mushroom complexity of older barrels. Drink soon or for five years or longer.
The Glorioso Reserva is composed of a grape selection from old vines and then a temperature-controlled (30ºC) fermentation on the skins of the destemmed grapes. A long maceration between 25 and 30 days follows before the wine proceeds through malolactic fermentation, clarification and fining. The wines mature in French oak barriques for 18 months followed by a minimum of 18 months in bottle. The deep, ruby-red wine expresses aromas of ripe dark fruits balanced by well-integrated oak and spice and rich, complex, dark fruit flavors with a long satisfying finish.
