Finca Constancia 2011
10 months in American and French oak barrels
San Francisco Wine Exchange
A plump and plummy Castilla based version of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Tempranillo, Petit Verdot, Graciano and Cabernet Franc, this is an example of a new iteration of Spanish wines. More New World than Old World in its ripe and fat, but still marked by the character of mineral in the finish.
The aim of this wine was to achieve the maximum expression of each variety and reflect each of the soils to which they have adapted. This wine shows marked aromas of cherry and black plum and complex aromas and flavors that reflect the long aging in barrels where notes of vanilla, toasted and smoked fruits, such as cherry and raspberry, merge with good body and persistence, good balance and pleasant, round tannins. The wine is ideal with red meats, game, mature cheese and cured meats.
About the Winery
Finca Constancia embraces the philosophy of the González Byass company translated to the twenty-first century. Situated in Toledo about 60 miles from Madrid, Finca Constancia is a cutting-edge winery that is the product of González Byass's extensive experience in winemaking and also concrete proof that its business is wine. The González family wished to create a single-estate property, similar to a Bordeaux château, where single-parcel wines are produced by combining the best soils and climatic conditions to achieve world-class expressions of the grapes grown on the specific sites in the vineyard.
