Conde Siruela Reserva 2006
18 months in French Oak barrels
93 points Wine & Spirits, Gold Bacchus Spain 2011
United Cellars, Inc
There are so many ultra modern Ribera del Duero wines in the market, that it can be refreshing to find producers who hew to a more traditional style. Siruela shows as much earth flavors as it does barrel (smoky and vanillin) and fruit characters, both fresh and dried. Drink now or in the next few years.
Colour cherry red, bright and clear with good depths. The wine is cherry-red, bright and clear with good depths with a clean, highly complex bouquet with hints of balsamic and vanilla. In the mouth, the powerful and elegant wine is smooth, but with powerful flavors, and a long, full finish with attractive nuances of aged wine and fruit aftertaste. Serve at 16 to 18 °C with red and roasted meats.
About the Winery
Bodegas Santa Eulalia, founded in 1950 by a group of pioneering vine growers who own 610 acres of vineyards in Ribera del Duero, was the first wine cellar in the region to age their wine in oak barrels. Group Bodegas Frutos Villar partnered with Bodegas Santa Eulalia in 1988 to market the wines both in Spain and abroad.
