Fans of big, rich, barrel-fermented Chardonnays will feel right at home with this intense wine. The buttery nose reaches almost to brown butter, but different from similarly styled New World Chardonnays, and the fruits are of pear, apple, and citrus, instead of new-world fat peach and tropical notes. It creates a cleaner and more exhilarating experience: at once both fat and lean, and lengthy. Drink now or in the next several years.
This exquisite Spanish Chardonnay is made from hand-picked grapes carefully selected from our “Las Canteras” and “El Plano” vineyards at Aberin. The privileged location of the vineyards, their age, and low yields allow this wine to show its complexity, intensity, and an aromatic profile with a range of expressions within this noble variety. The artisanal, careful winemaking creates the aromatic complement to obtain a rich and powerful whole of great finesse and harmonious and long in mouth; these virtues increase after some years maturing in the bottle. It's a perfect wine for special occasions. Enjoy it with seafood at a temperature of 10º to 12ºC
About the Winery
Founded in 1647, Bodegas Julián Chivite is the oldest wine-producing dynasty in Spain; the winemaking tradition has been passed down through 11 generations of the Chivite family. During this time, the firm has grown from its original establishment in Navarra to estates in different Spanish areas: Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and Rueda. Viña Salceda Winery in Rioja belongs to Chivite Group and so does Señorio de Arinzano Estate, which in 2007 became the first Pago (top category of wine production in Spain) in northern Spain.
