Tasting Note

Yet another example of increasing quality in Cigales, Calderona offers not only bright fruit with nearly raspberry compote notes, but tobacco, lavender and other savory and floral notes. The wine finishes with cherry notes and black pepper. Drink soon or in the next few years.

Wine Description

The cherry-red wine with purple hues in the thin layer is bright and clear with good depth. Complex and elegant aromas, with hints of good aging in American oak and a fruity background are followed by a mouth full of flavor and good body. The tannins and strong backbone continue to highlight the cask aging.

About the Winery

Bodegas Frutos Villar started the wine business in the 1900, and the first wine cellar was founded in Toro in 1920, now the oldest existing one in this DO. In 1957, we founded a second winery in Cigales; together with the Cigales cooperative, we are the oldest in this area. Our main production in Cigales is rosé wine based on Tempranillo; this year the wine was selected the best rosé wine from Spain by the Consumers Organization, which encourages our goal to achieve the greatest standards for our wines.
